East Stroudsburg University’s Reserve Officer Trainer Corps (ROTC) students and members from University Band performed a flag ceremony on Wednesday Septermber 19.

The flagpole, as you can see it here in the front of College Circle, against Prospect Street, contains three flags: the American flag, the Pennsylvania state flag, and a flag with the ESU logo.

University police officers, including Cheif Olson, blocked off traffic on Circle Drive as officers, band members and onlookers waited for the start of the ceremony. As well, veterans and other military members attended.

Capt. Cotterino was happy to be involved in the service.

“The ROTC was honored by being asked to take care of a flag discrepancy at the campus,” he said.

He expressed gratitude on the University’s help, praising the music department, campus police and the ESU staff for their help in facilitating the flag raising.

Officers practiced the routine before the noon start time, passing the new, folded flag back and forth. University band provided a trumpet player and a drum player for the event.

“We would like thank ESU for the support of the program, and we were glad to give something back.”
