On Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 7:30 pm, the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA, will be hosting “Rock Out Cancer”, a concert featuring Those Mocking Birds, Fairmont, Rob Lately, The Haunts, and Mumbling Lucy, that will benefit Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center.

The Sherman Theater will open its doors at 6:30 pm for “Rock Out Cancer”, the seating is general admission and tickets are $10 each.

The new 59,000 square-foot Frances and Dale Hughes Cancer Center opened by Pocono Medical Center (PMC) in Stroudsburg, PA, in June 2012, offers state-of-the-art cancer treatment technologies, cancer treatment protocols, and human-centered care, according to PMC.

Those Mocking Birds, consisting of Jon Gianano (guitar), Kevin Walters (drums, vocals, percussion), Adam Bird (vocals, guitar), Tory Anne Daines (vocals, violin, keyboard), and Rob Fitzgerald (bass, vocals), give the audience an experience that provokes raw emotion with a sound ranging from powerful and tearing, to smooth and tranquil. Their last EP No Symmetry hit the top of Amazon’s Movers and Shakers chart, and their new EP Fa Sol La is out now and features song such as “Coast to Coast”, “Don’t Stray”, and “The Bloodiest Gums”.

“We have dual violin and guitar solos. It gets pretty wild over here between that and the piano, oh and male/female duets and harmonies; we’ve got plenty of those,” said Those Mocking Birds in an interview with Alter the Press.

Neil Sabitino (vocals, guitar), Andy Applegate (drums), Christian Kisala (keyboards, synths, mallets), and Sam Carradori (vocals, bass) are the four members of Fairmont, the New Jersey based indie-rock band that will be performing at “Rock Out Cancer” who have received a wide variety of acclaim by New Jersey press.

“Wistful, sardonic, bitter yet hopeful words wrapped up in impressive riffs and surrounded by catchy beats… Fairmont never disappoints,” the Jersey Beat claimed.

Rob, Lately, a five-piece West Philly indie-rock band founded in 2008 by brothers Rob and Ryan Mallow will be joining the lineup of performances at “Rock Out Cancer”, as well as The Haunts, a four-piece horror-rock band from Le, Roy, IL, that combines horror, science fiction, and ancient mysticism imagery with inspiration drawn from The Ramones, the Clash, and the Misfits.

The final performance of the evening will be by Mumbling Lucy, a four-piece “jam band machine” out of Sussex County, NJ, that includes Johnny Amato (lead guitarist), Brett Ross (drums), Luke Leonard (bass) and Sean Costello (rhythm guitarist).

“We’re in it for the love of music, and we bring that passion for what we do on stage,” said the members of Mumbling Lucy.
