On Tuesday, April 5 at 7 PM, “Fashion Your Future,” a career wear fashion show, was held in the Keystone Room as part of President Welsh’s inauguration week.

WNEP-TV News Reporter Raegan Medgie and ESU senior Jo-El Leek co-hosted the event, giving students tips and tricks on how to dress both appropriately and fashionably.  Areas covered included dressing for interviews, at work and day to evening wear.

The room filled quickly, and the show began at about 7:15 PM.

Each audience member received a Brooks Brothers bag full of gifts, including Great Expectations themed sunglasses, magnets and electronics screen cleaners.

“Dr. Welsh is apparently a fashionista,” Medgie said to the crowd.

She described Dr. Welsh as having a “shoe fetish.”  Later in the night, Dr. Welsh would admit that she believes shoes “make an outfit.”

While appropriate dress remained a key issue of the night, Dr. Welsh remained the focus of the event.

“President Welsh is going to give us a sense of how to dress fashionably for your job,” Medgie said.

ESU students, faculty and staff modeled on the green, blue and red lit stage.

Nastasia Scott was first to hit the Keystone Room’s constructed runway, and she is popular for her part in the last season of America’s Next Top Model.

The president, as well, modeled three different outfits.  Some crowd favorites were Jeff Wilson, head Basketball Coach and Jeff Jones, Director of Admissions.

Student Senate President, Lauren Zirkelbach, modeled, as well as Myia Woodson of the Warrior Elite.

Raffles were held throughout the night were audience members had the chance to win baskets compiled by university organizations, gift cards to Cold Water Creek and Tommy Hilfiger, and the grand prize of a Nook donated by Barnes and Noble.

The committee members for the event ranged from ESU students to the Director of Career Development, Daria Wielebinski.

The event also featured music by DJ Dame.

“Gorgeous models, all of them,” said Dr. Welsh at the end of the night.

Though some students left after certain models finished, others waited until the end and attended the reception that immediately followed.  Food was served, and students and community members had the chance to talk to the models and other participants from the event.

“Welcome as the thirteenth president and as its first female president,” said Medgie.
