The Warrior’s tennis team won both their matches in Shippensburg last weekend to improve their record to 3-1. On Friday, the girls faced Seton Hill, who was down a woman.

This meant that East Stroudsburg began the match up 2-0, with third doubles (Brianne Wood and Amber Jadus) and sixth singles (Taylor Presby) winning their matches by forfeit.

The Warriors’ first doubles team, consisting of senior Annie Vega and Junior Allison Bean, lost to Shippensburg’s aggressive duet (Megan Hudak and Faith Finoli) 8-2.

Amina Dickson and Taylor Presby worked well together at second doubles defeating Chelsea Pence and M. Vauter 8-2.

For the singles portion of the day, East Stroudsburg continued to play strong. 2nd-6th singles all won their matches to give the Warriors the win.

Amina Dickson lost to forceful opponent Megan Hudak at first singles 6-0, 6-2.

Allison Bean defeated Faith Finoli 6-3, 6-2 at second singles.

Freshman Brianne Wood played third singles, keeping her cool and sailing through her match against M. Vauter 6-2, 6-1. Annie Vega trumped her opponent Chelsea Pence 6-1, 6-1 with her usual aggressive tennis style.

Amber Jadus had the closest singles match of the day. After winning the first set 6-2 against Kristina Torretti, she faltered in the second, losing 2-6. In a super tiebreaker, she managed to edge ahead, winning 10-7.

The Warriors remained in Shippensburg Friday night to play another match Saturday morning.

The girls got there early and were ready to face Clarion at 9 AM.

Annie Vega and Amina Dickson were an aggressive duo at first doubles, but Clarion’s team of Madeline Robinson and Lauren Zezenski pulled ahead to win in a tiebreaker 9-8.

Allison Bean and Taylor Presby’s chemistry at second doubles enabled them to keep their cool and snag a hard fought win against Megan Bettwy and Jessica Kennelly 8-6.

The Warrior’s third doubles team, consisting of Brianne Wood and Amber Jadus, kept their intensity up and breezed through their doubles match against Jazmin Harris and Allison Probst 8-0.

The singles matches were very competitive. Amina Dickson played yet another tough opponent Lauren Zezenski and lost 6-4, 6-2.

Allison Bean was hitting her shots with speed and accuracy and her opponent’s game was nearly equal to hers.

Unfortunately, Megan Bettwy of Clarion pulled ahead in the end, narrowly defeating Bean 6-4, 6-4.

Brianne Wood played a close match as well against Madeline Robinson. After storming through the first set winning 6-1, she lost the second 6-4.

They went into a third set tiebreaker with Clarion’s player pulling ahead 10-5 in the end. Annie Vega was victorious over Jessica Kennelly 7-5, 6-4.

Amber Jadus was able to keep calm in her singles match today, defeating Allison Probst 6-1, 6-0. Taylor Presby had similar results at sixth singles, pulling ahead of Jazmin Harris 6-0, 6-1.

The girls have one more match this fall against Philadelphia University this coming weekend.
