On Tuesday, October 15, Career Development and the Office of Workforce Development are teaming up to host the Science and Technology Career Fair.

The event is from 2 PM to 4 PM in the Keystone Room, and is open to all students and alumni.

Industries represented include, but are not limited to healthcare, food safety, retail, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nursing, and manufacturing.

This career fair will focus on the life sciences, but students with majors or career ambitions in all facets are encouraged to attend, because there will be varying industries represented.

“The focus on life science careers reflects the efforts underway by the NEPA Regional BioScience Initiative to attract and retain life science companies in northeastern Pennsylvania,” said Sharone Glasco, Director of Workforce Development.

As a result of ESU’s participation in the NEPA RBI initiative, there are many new companies in attendance, including BioSpectra, DSM Nutritional Products, Harsco-Industrial Patterson Kelley and TMG Health and Marathon Studios.

Students should attend the fair in professional attire, and bring their resumes.

“For male students…a suit is recommended but a shirt and tie would be appropriate if they do not have a jacket,” said Daria Wielebinski, Director of Career Development.

A photo corner will be available for students to take professional headshots that may be included in their portfolio on LinkedIn®, the world’s largest professional internet network.

“Right now there are eighteen companies registered, but we still have them rolling in right now,” said Wielebinski on Friday, October 4.

As of October 8, that number increased to a total of twenty-one companies.

Students can find a full list of employers to attend the career fair on warriorcareers.esu.edu, where they can also find advice on preparing for the career fair, as well as other potentially useful information.

“I think it’s good for the students to come no matter what year they are,” said Wielebinski, “to be able to go through the career fair, get comfortable with the environment, meet the employers, and explore the possibilities that are out there will definitely benefit the student.”

“If they (students) do not have a resume, they should come in to see us (Career Development) before the career fair,” said Wielebinski. “Our next career fair will be February 25, and it’s open to all areas, whereas this one was specific to science and technology.”
