On October 14, New York born band Taking Back Sunday rocked the faces off of the Sherman Theater audience.

The night started with openers Polar Bear Club showcasing their brand new stage drop back. Lead singer, Jimmy Stadt, expressed his excitement for their new stage attire while singing and jumping from one side of the stage to the other.

The Polar Bear Club pushed out their hits off their full length album, Chasing Hamburg before Taking Back Sunday took to the stage.

As the lights came back up and Polar Bear Club ended their set, the crowd quickly grew to fill the floor.

With excitement growing for the five members of our beloved band, the room got dark and the music started.

The members did not disappoint as they kicked out all the songs we all remembered from our days walking through high school hallways such as “Liar (It Takes One to Know One), “Timberwolves at New Jersey”, and “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut From the Team).

The crowd was relentless with their quick foot steps, hands in the air, and of course the occasional embrace as Taking Back Sunday played their favorite song.

Show goers expressed feeling of youth again as lead singer, Adam Lazzara, sang for what felt like an endless setlist of songs.

Things slowed down as Lazzara had an acoustic guitar in hand and played “Call Me in the Morning” and just like with any slow song at a show, the lighters and cell phone lights came out eliminating the audience’s faces captivated by band.

With any musician, there is always the wonderful encore and Taking Back Sunday did not disappoint. Crashing back onto the stage, the familiar guitar riffs of “MakeDamnSure” circled in our ears and the crowd responded back with enthusiasm.

It was a joy to see how far the 5 members of Taking Back Sunday have come since the days of the Warped Tours and the arenas.

For concert goers, it brought back memories of growing up and being the first to buy in line to buy their albums before iTunes and how excited we were to go see them for the first time.

When the lights came back up and the sweaty, happy, tired crowd made their way home, we were happy to call ourselves fans.
