The ESU homecoming pageant, held on October 29 from 8 to 10 PM in the Keystone Room, presented the king and queen candidates.

As the evening began,  the candidates were escorted up to the stage while a video each candidates submitted earlier in the semester played on a screen.

A deejay from ESU’s radio station 90.3 WESS played music throughout the night to keep the pageant upbeat.

The 2013 Homecoming Queen candidates are Senior Athletic Training major Laura Beveridge, Senior Art and Design major Shanna Bridglal, Sophomore Special Education and Early Childhood Education major Arionna Charlesworth, Junior Communications major Tambria Lee, Sophomore Political Science and Communication Studies major Leah Majdic, Sophomore Political Science major Allison Simon, Senior Rehabilitative and Human Services major Kiley Ann Thornburg, Senior Biology Secondary Education and Spanish K-12 major Allison White, and Senior Interdisciplinary Studies: Business Management and Secondary Education major  Lauren Zirkelbach .

The 2013 Homecoming King candidates are Junior Exercise Science major Tyler Hernandez, Senior Business Management major Aaron Machado, Senior Political Science Pre-Law major George Mitchell, Senior Athletic Training major Michael Moore, Junior Sociology major Stephen Murphy, and Senior English major Kevin Skilton.

Each candidate supported a charity of their choice and was asked to explain why they chose that charity.

The charities supported by the candidates were Brain Trauma Foundation, Together We Rise, Oceans of Love, March of Dimes, Big Brother, Big Sister, Gregory Moyer Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Child Miracle Network, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Keep a Breast Foundation, Family Violence Prevention Fund, and ALS Association.

Candidates were asked one of three questions that was scored by a five person judging panel.

The judging was based off of fundraising and charity, campus involvement, text and twitter votes, and their YouTube video submission.

The winners of the title of king and queen will be announced tonight.
