On October 14th, New York-born band Taking Back Sunday rocked the faces off of the Sherman Theater audience.

The night started with openers Polar Bear Club showcasing their brand new stage drop back. Lead singer, Jimmy Stadt, expressed his excitement for their new stage attire while singing and jumping from one side of the stage to the other.

Polar Bear Club played the hits off their full-length album, “Chasing Hamburg” before Taking Back Sunday took to the stage.

As the lights came back up and Polar Bear Club ended their set, the crowd quickly grew to fill the floor. With excitement growing for the five members of the headliner, the room got dark and the music started.

The musicians did not disappoint as they kicked out all the songs fans remembered from days walking through high school hallways, such as “Liar (It Takes One to Know One),” “Timberwolves at New Jersey”, and “Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut From the Team).

The crowd was relentless with their quick footsteps, hands in the air, and the occasional embrace as Taking Back Sunday played their favorite songs.

Show goers expressed feeling of youth again as lead singer, Adam Lazzara, sang for what felt like an endless set list.

The momentum slowed down as Lazzara had an acoustic guitar in hand and played “Call Me in the Morning,” and just like with any slow song at a concert, the lighters and cell phone lights came out illuminating the audience’s faces captivated by the band.

Crashing back onto the stage for an encore, the familiar guitar riffs of “MakeDamnSure” circled the venue and the crowd responded back with enthusiasm.

It was a joy to see how far the five members of Taking Back Sunday have come since the days of the Warped Tours and the arenas.

For concert goers, it brought back memories of growing up and being the first in line to buy their albums before iTunes existed and how excited fans were to go see them for the first time.
