On Friday, November 1, 2013 East Stroudsburg University’s Campus Activities Board held a Spirit Night, one of the many events held for Homecoming 2013.

The event took place at ESU’s Eiler-Martin Stadium from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, followed by a fifteen-minute fireworks show.

Two students from the university’s WESS radio station led the Spirit Night.

The ESU Warrior Marching Band was scheduled to take part in Spirit Night by providing music before and during the event; however, they never showed up.

As a result, Spirit Night kicked off with a performance by the ESU Dance Team.

Coach Denny Douds and four senior football players came to the field and were introduced.

Both Coach Douds and senior Greg Blue gave pep speeches for Saturday’s homecoming game against Lock Haven University.

The cheerleaders also performed cheers and a dance routine.

Students then had a chance to participate in musical chairs for different prizes, including ESU hats and gift cards.

Participants in a door decorating contest and the banner contest were recognized, and the winners were announced.

First place for the banner competition went to the Campus Activities Board, second place went to the Public Relations Student Society of America, and third place went to Student Senate.

Closing the Spirit Night was the introduction of the Homecoming Court and crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.

The Homecoming Court members were judged based on their videos, pageant performances, the popular vote, and the amount of money they raised for their charities.

The 2013 Homecoming Queen and King runner-ups were ESU junior, Tambria Lee and ESU senior Aaron Machado. Kevin Skilton and Lauren Zirkelbach, both seniors, were selected as the 2013 Homecoming King and Queen.
