East Stroudsburg University’s new residence hall, Hemlock Suites, earned itself a spot in the Fiscal Times top ten public colleges with the most luxurious dorms.

This $74 million housing complex offers students a plethora of amenities, and is more extravagant than some upscale hotels I have been to.

Every floor comes equipped with a common area. Students can lounge on the new, stylish, comfortable sofas and chairs, watch TV on large flat screen televisions, or even play piano.

There are computer labs equipped with printers, a trash room, and a laundry room where students can wash and dry their clothes at no additional cost.

There are also vending machines for those late night snack fixes.

The ground floor houses the mail room and full kitchen with plenty of cabinets and new appliances.

Students have their choice of four different room styles from a basic double occupancy semi-suite to a luxurious four person suite with four single occupancy bedrooms, a living room, kitchenette, and two bathrooms.

Each suite comes with one or two bathrooms, so  students no longer have to share a common bathroom with at least fifty other students.

The university supplies suites with a dining and living area with moveable furniture, such as a couch and dinette. Rooms sport built-in closets and wall to wall carpeting.

Cable television and internet service is readily available, and the entire residence hall is climate controlled.

Like other residence halls, rooms are single sex, but the floors remain co-ed.

Stepping into Hemlock for the first time impressed me.

I felt at home and comfortable immediately with the brightly colored paint and patterned furniture and carpets.

The kitchen and common area on the main floor is enormous, and the lounge offers a welcoming atmosphere for students to relax on their down time.

Hemlock Suites boasts luxury and deserves its place on Fiscal Times’ top ten list.

I personally would never move off campus if I had the opportunity to live in one of the suites.

Students can truly feel at home while attending school far from home.

From late-night paper writing to whipping up a quick meal in the middle of the night to lounging on a couch with your favorite snuggy, Hemlock Suites has it all.
