The Career Development Center is a department on campus that most students do not take full advantage of.

The center—previously known as Career Services—is open to all students and even alumni for help on anything students may need involving their future careers.

The Career Development Center can help students with writing their resumes or cover letters, finding a major that fits for undeclared students, helping find internships, and even jobs for graduating seniors.

The center has a website that helps with plenty of questions.  If the website it not enough, they have plenty of office hours to get some advices from the experts.

Even though the Career Development Center has all of this to offer, they do not necessary have the thru traffic they should, or the best reputation on campus.

In previous years, the Career Development Center has gotten a bad rap for giving bad advice, or people having a bad experience.

But things have certainly changed this year.

Over the summer Career Services changed over to the Career Development Center and got new face lift.

Now the center seems to be getting more students in asking for help, and more advertisement throughout the campus.

I went to Career Development my freshman year when I was an undeclared major and got help picking what major would best fit me and what I wanted to do with my life.

I walked out having a great experience, and knowing that I was educated to pick the best major.

I also went my junior year to get help writing my resume.  I received the help I needed and even emailed back and forth with someone to make sure everything was perfect.

Overall, I have had great experiences with the department, and I am definitely not the only one.

ESU senior, Lisette Lojo says, “The Career Development Center was extremely helpful and beneficial when making my resume.  They were insightful on what employees look for when looking at a resume.”

Another ESU student, sophomore Chantal Fulgencio has made an appointment for this upcoming week to get some help from the center on her next upcoming years at ESU and what happens after she graduates.

Just based on the experiences she has had so far she said, “It was super easy just making an appointment.”

She agrees that the center is a great place to ask for help.

So while the Career Development Center has gone through some major changes over the past year, they have benefited the department vastly.

Now students have easier access to get the help they need from this great resource at ESU.
