Now that our spring semester is a few weeks in and we are already feeling the pressure of our studies, we all must remember to give ourselves a break here and there.

Some listen to music to recharge, and nothing is better then seeing a live show right in our neighborhood.

The Sherman Theater is merely a hop, skip, and a jump away from our campus and offers a place to recharge for all the music lovers.

This month, the Sherman is hosting a “Winter Jam,” a Sublime tribute, a comedy tour, and a few other shows that are bound to entertain.

The Sherman’s lineup kicks off with their annual “Winter Jam” on Saturday, February 8 featuring Pink Floyd cover band, Outside the Wall.

Opening jams will be provided by The SteveMcDaniel Band, Schmidty & The Five Second Rule, Serene Green, plus more to be announced.

Continuing through the month, Galactic is bringing their New Orleans Mardi Gras flavor to the area for a night on the town on Sunday February 9.

Other acts include Badfish: Tribute to Sublime and Satisfaction: The International Rock Show.

Badfish has captured the essence of a truly legendary band that has ever changed the music scene.

You can catch these guys on Thursday, February 27.

Satisfaction: The International Rock Show is another show on Friday, February 14.

This is a tribute to the most influential rock band of all time: The Rolling Stones.

With over 1600 performances and featured in multiple magazines, the musicians have come quite a long way.

If music isn’t your relaxation technique, then laughing is a sure fire way to boost the serotonin levels.

The Black Amish Comedy Tour is coming to town on Friday, February 21, 2014 and is sure to help your happy levels.

And if music and laughing don’t help, then violence is a sure way to help any frustrations you have with your spring semester.

The Sherman is hosting their fifth Cage Rage MMA on Saturday, February 15, which includes fighters from local gyms competing for the title.

So get out there this month and get your tickets to any of the shows listed above and watch for reviews in the upcoming issues of “The Stroud Courier.”
