“Shamy’s” first kiss went off with a “bang”

On Feburary 6, history was made when television’s cutest couple shared their first kiss on everyone’s favorite show, “The Big Bang Theory.”

Such an event seemed implausible until now because, as fans of the show could tell you, Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler aren’t your typical couple.

The show is about a group of braniacs who meet a young woman who opens their eyes to the non-academic world — a world where logic clashes with the everyday emotions that humans are always fighting with.

The Big Bang Theory” began with Physics nerds Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, Raj Koothrappali, and Howard Wolowitz and Penny, the pretty blonde waitress at the Cheesecake Factory.  As the seasons go by, the cast has grown to include Wolowitz’s now wife, Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz, and Sheldon’s girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler.

Amy and Sheldon’s relationship was more like a business arrangement in prior episodes, but recently writers have begun to add more and more “romance” to the duo’s associations—including episodes where Sheldon takes care of Amy when she is sick and he also makes her his emergency contact.

The most recent episode features the couple’s first kiss.  Amy arranged a Valentine’s Day getaway on a train to please both herself and Sheldon, but her plan goes awry when Sheldon meets a fellow train lover during their romantic dinner.

In a fit, Amy expresses her concerns, and in an angry response, Sheldon ends up locking lips with her — something he never wanted to do.

Even better, he ended up liking the kiss, commenting later that “her lips taste like the brownie we had for dessert.”

This event shocked viewers.

“I freaked out! And he liked it!” said senior Brittany Waguespack.

The best part of the episode is that after the sexy lip-lock, Sheldon invites Amy to share a special moment.

It will be exciting to see how Amy and Sheldon’s relationship grows and matures since such a milestone has finally been reached.  Watch the adorable couple every Thursday at 8 PM on the CBS channel to see what all the fuss is about.
