The Student Activity Association (SAA) brought a snazzy duo, Mark and Heather, to the Dansbury stage last Friday.

Hailing from Kansas City, the act, under the name So Long Solo came with soulful songs, a variety of instruments, delicious teas, and charitable merchandise.

The couple performed at Late Night from 9 PM to 11 PM.

Their act combined their own original songs with covers of popular titles, such as Sara Bareilles’s “Brave,” “Secrets” by OneRepublic, Rihanna’s hit song “Stay,” “Barton Hollow” by The Civil Wars, and more.

Their own original songs, however, held their own against the radio hits.

Some of the original songs that they played were “End of the Rainbow,” “Goodbye,” “January,” “Under the Bridge,” “We Will Save the World (With Tea),” and many others.

Not only is the music original and incredibly soothing, but the lyrics are quirky and fun.

The duo has a complete sound and a vast array of instruments ranging from small instruments to large ones: the cello, guitar, flute, glockenspiel, pianica, ukulele, percussion, and more.

They even included the audience in the act by asking them to act as the percussion for a song.

They create the perfect atmosphere with their supply of Adagio tea.

Additionally, they bring with them a supply of bracelets made by women and children in the Philippines through Threads of Hope. Half of all of the proceeds go to rescue families from sex slavery and economic oppression.

Aside from their music, Heather and Mark are happily married with a little musician on the way. Their story is one for the big screen.

Heather happens to be Mark’s first girlfriend and true love. Both members grew up around the same area, but they did know each other until a chance meeting at a coffee shop.

Mark was already a music superstar and while on their honeymoon in Mexico, Heather decided to quit her job and join her husband on the road.

Visit their Facebook, Twitter, and website by using the title “Solongsolo” for more news about their tours, songs, and philanthropic efforts.
