A Letter to The Editor

Dear Editor,

Under the collective leadership of Governor Tom Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley over the past four years, Pennsylvania has become a beacon of hope to the next generation of its citizens.

The Governor’s actions and decisions undertaken over the past four years has placed Pennsylvania in a better position going forward, and the ESU College Republicans are proud and excited to endorse both Gov. Corbett and Lt. Gov. Cawley for re-election in 2014.

President Ryan Stevens stated, “Governor Corbett inherited a fiscal nightmare when he stepped into the governor’s mansion back in 2010. He inherited a $4.2 billion budget deficit and overcame the deficit without raising taxes.”

Vice President, Zach Niles, added that “It is important for college students to understand what Governor Corbett has done for Pennsylvania in his first-term. He has put our Commonwealth in position to shift priority to the younger generations by investing record numbers in basic education.”

Under Governor Corbett, PA has become a leading producer in coal while utilizing clean-coal technology, and at the same time has become the nation’s second largest producer in natural gas.

He has also overseen the addition of 141,000 private sector jobs for Pennsylvanians and the support of over 200,000 jobs through the natural gas industry.

Pennsylvania is now a leading energy supplier not only to America, but to the rest of the world.

Tom Corbett has kept his promises to Pennsylvania, and the ESU College Republicans join with the 30 other college republican chapters across the Commonwealth in support of Governor Corbett and Lieutenant Governor Cawley during this year’s election.

Their proven record of success has helped to pave the way for a Pennsylvania that we look forward to being a part of during and after our education at East Stroudsburg University.
