Despite changes and cuts to the Department of Modern Languages at East Stroudsburg University, language students continue to excel.

Tuesday April 8th the department will be conducting its annual Awards Ceremony.

Each Spring, the Department of Modern Languages holds an Awards Ceremony to recognize accomplishments of Language students from the current academic year.

These students have taken Language class(es) in the Fall and/or are currently taking Language class(es) in the Spring.  Language professors nominate students from their classes whom they feel have excelled in their class. Each student is given a certificate in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments.

This year the department will be recognizing 145 students.

At the Awards Ceremony, the Department of Modern Languages also recognizes a few select outstanding Language majors to be inducted into the Phi Sigma Iota International Foreign Language Honor Society.

These students have a major in Spanish and/or French, a GPA of 3.0 or higher, preferably a Senior or Junior.

This year the department will be recognizing and inducting 12 students.

The event is coordinated this year by Dr. Paul Creamer and Dr. Annie Mendoza with the assistance of the Department of Modern Languages Secretary, Karin Drennan.

This Spring, the Awards Ceremony will be held on Tuesday April 8th, 2014 from 2:30 – 3:30 in the Beers Lecture Hall.

The event is informal, however students are required to RSVP so their certificates will be at the ceremony.
