Have you ever felt the frustration of trying to use Google Chrome and being unable to open ESU’s webpage? You are just one of the many students who are simply frustrated with using Google Chrome.

Many students like to use Google Chrome because it is convenient. Many of the personal laptops students are using have Google Chrome as the main search engine.

Many students, however, have been experiencing difficulty when trying to access certain links from the page.

Jihad McCargo, a senior business major, voiced his frustrations about trying to use the website.

He said, “In my experience trying to use Google Chrome, I noticed that the school website does not work well with the newest versions of Chrome”.

He continued, “I stopped using Google Chrome altogether.” He now uses Firefox, which seems to be a reliable search engine for many students and professors alike.

I have witnessed professors struggle to open D2L using Google Chrome. The students immediately advise them to use Firefox.

Dionna Jones, also a senior, spoke about her switch to Firefox after experiencing issues with Google Chrome: “In order to complete my assignments, I have to access numerous links through the school’s webpage; Google Chrome never worked for me.”

After switching her search engine, she has not experienced these same issues.

Why is Google Chrome not working?

Nia Carty, a former employee at the computer help desk, spoke of her involvement directing students to use a different search engine.

She said, “Students would frequently call about them experiencing difficulty trying to use Google Chrome.” She continued to say they always direct students to use a different search engine.

Students should have the liberty to use any search engine they choose. Not being able to use Google Chrome has become an inconvenience for many students, and this issue should be addressed.
