On Saturday, September 27, car enthusiasts gathered at the circle by Abeloff to show off their mint condition classic cars. This show was one of the many activities that took place for ESU’s Family Weekend.

Monroe County Cruisers Club held this event from 10:00AM to 12:00 PM. The entry price was $15 per car, and spectator viewing was free. All benefits collected went to the United Way of Monroe County.

The mission statement of the Monroe County Cruisers Club is to encourage the ownership and care of antique, classic, and special interest cars, to organize car shows, cruises, and membership in car clubs, and to work with local business owners, township leaders, and authorities throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania in the support of worthy charities and youth programs.

Cars that entered consisted of the following: 1970 Dodge Charger, Ford Mustand Mach 1, Classic AMC AMX, Deloran, Chevrolet Bel Air Pontiac, 1971 GTO, 1970 Z21 Chevy Camaro, and a 1930 Ford Roadster.

The show featured cars ranging from the 1930s to 2014. The earliest model was the 1930 Ford Roadster and latest was the 2014 Corvette.

The show also had a few newer models, including an array of twenty-first century Ford Mustangs, as well as a 2014 Corvette. The overall winner was the Cherry Red Chevrolet Bel Air Pontiac.

“I love going to classic car shows; it brings the memories of an era that fueled American pride. Each one of these vehicles has its own unique characteristic that defined the generation of speed and class,” said Alfred Kump, a local Stroudsburg resident.

The next show held by the Monroe County Cruisers Club will be at the Burger King located in front of the Stroudsburg Mall from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on October 3. Two more shows will be held on October 10 and October 17 at the same time and location.
