Warriors Win Two Straight After Loss

This past Wednesday, the Warriors hosted the Huskies in their third PSAC game of the season. The game started off with a relaxed pace but sadly turned south for the Warriors.

In the 22nd minute, Anthony Cerda of Bloomsburg gave the Huskies the lead with a brilliantly struck header from a free kick. Literally seventeen seconds later, Cerda was at it again for the Huskies.

Brilliant give-and-go passes from Brett Milden and Cerda caught the ESU defense out of position, and a final through ball from Milden to Cerda gave the Huskies another goal.

Bloomsburg was able to notch another goal in the 42nd minute off of the foot of James Kiama. He was assisted by Mike Bamford and Brian Kilcoyne. ESU managed to keep the Huskies at bay for the rest of the first half, which ended 2-0 in favor of Bloomsburg.

The second half of the game was much better than the first half for ESU. They switched to a 3–4–3 in the second half to control the strong mid-field partnerships that Bloomsburg was able to establish in the first half.

Sadly though, in the 82nd minute a defensive error led to Bloomsburg’s fourth goal of the game. The game ended with Bloomsburg winning 4-0.

The Warriors bounced back with a 2-1 win in Lock Haven and followed that with a 2-0 win over West Chester on Tuesday evening following goals from junior midfielder Casey Choffy (the first of his career) and Jonathan Stuppe.

ESU’s winning streak has definitely been an improvement over their early games this season. The defense has been putting in far more disciplined plays compared to their earlier season performances.

The forwards have also been playing extremely well for the Warriors, scoring 4 goals in 2 games. If the team continues on this path, this winning streak will definitely continue throughout the season.

ESU’s next game will be against Chestnut Hill, who have had an up-and-down season with a 3–4–1 record, on October 1.
