On October 2, ESU and Northampton Community College (NCC) signed three articulation agreements for students who started college at NCC and have transferred to ESU.

The three bachelor degrees included within this agreement are exercise science, public health, and nursing.

As stated by Dr. Alberto Cardelle, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, “This will enable students to seamlessly complete their studies at ESU after starting at NCC.”

According to ESU’s website, “The department of exercise sciences at ESU offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The department has received endorsement from American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength and Conditioning Association.”

All faculty members who are instructing courses for a degree within exercise science hold doctoral degrees and contain a plethora of knowledge within the field.

They also work closely with each student studying to obtain his or her degree in the field of exercise science.

ESU’s website stated, “The department of nursing leads to a four year program of study that leads to the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing.”

The program itself has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and has also been approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

There is a 100 percent success rate of permanent full-time nursing faculty that are PhD or EdD prepared. Once a student has completed the program, eligibility for licensing as a registered nurse is available.

The last of the three articulation agreement signed by ESU is for a Bachelors in Public Health. As ESU’s website stated, “The health field is the second largest employer in the United States.”

The Community Health Education program prepares students for a rewarding service career that improves the health behavior and health outcomes of residents living in local communities, counties, as well as statewide.

Alumni of ESU enrolled within this program span from county to state health organizations.

After completing the undergraduate program at ESU, students have the option to remain at ESU to complete a graduate degree and reach for a Master of Public Health.

ESU was the first Pennsylvania state system to have an accredited graduate program in public health.

To follow suit with this, NCC has started up an applied associates degree in public health, this being the first countrywide.

While these three majors have been connected between ESU and NCC, ESU still offers over 60 other majors and is one of the 14 institutions in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Learning.
