The weather at ESU may be getting chillier, but the musical celebration is only just beginning!

From November 22 to December 9, any lover of music can find themselves with plenty to look forward to.

The first event of note is the Voices of Triumph Gospel Choir concert, taking place on November 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Celia S. Cohen Recital Hall.

This energetic event will also be featuring special performances by the Millersville University Gospel Choir, Shippensburg University Gospel Choir, Norton Avenue Baptist Church choir, and many more.

Admission is free, and there will be refreshments provided.

The evening will also overlap with a donation drive of winter clothing for the local Salvation Army.

Whether you’re a student or just an individual looking for a night of worship and fun, make sure to mark your calendars!

Any lover of jazz should get ready for November 23, as this will be the night of the performance of two ESU musical groups: the University Singers and the University Jazz Ensemble.

At 7:00 PM in the Celia S. Cohen Recital Hall, these groups will perform multiple pieces, both collaboratively and separately.

Some pieces to look forward to are Dr. Blues, a joint work by both musical groups, and pieces such as Choo Choo Ch’Boogie, Stolen Moments, along with others will be performed by the University Singers.

The Jazz Ensemble will be doing a standard set of normal jazz repertoire and musical pieces corresponding to the genre.

This event is free of charge, so make sure to take advantage!

When December 3 arrives, it will bring with it the eagerly anticipated Winter Choral Concert.

This performance will be a conglomeration of the two different vocal ensembles on campus: A Cappella Ensemble and Concert Choir. Starting at 7:30 PM in the Celia S. Cohen Recital Hall, the concert will feature numerous seasonal works of music.

This vocal show is free of charge to enter, so make sure not to miss it!

On December 9 at 7:00 PM, catch the ESU Community Concert Band.

The concert will feature a light program that director Lance Rauh hopes “will be enjoyable for both the performers and the audience.”

Some excerpts of this program are pieces featuring several different genres, such as Celtic music to traditional American Riversongs.

While one piece will commemorate the anniversary of the Pearl Harbor tragedy, the concert will end on a particularly festive note with a Holiday Finale composed by Leroy Anderson.

This band is known for its local roots, and its performances have been a continuity for generations. Doors will open at 6:30 PM, and the concert is free of charge.

Get ready to take part in a seasonal tradition!

The last musical event for the semester will be the Student Voice and Piano Recital at the Celia S. Cohen Recital Hall.

Featuring the hard-working talents of students trained under professors James Maroney and Betsy Buzzelli-Clarke, this collection of performances will put a special spotlight on the individual student’s musical gifts here at ESU.

The concert begins at 7:30 PM and is open to the public for no cost.

Don’t miss this bountiful grouping of young talent!

Make sure to set aside some time in your schedule to see just how much culture and musical extravagance ESU has to offer this winter.
