On your mark, get set, go! Work off those Thanksgiving pounds and get ready for the holiday season with the Jingle Bell Walk/Run event!

East Stroudsburg University’s College of Education is hosting this event as a fundraiser for the ESU Professional Development School.

Specifically, ESU students in Dr. Kuchinski’s Organization and Administration class are coordinating the race and fundraiser.

The Professional Development School is a university/ school partnership whose function is to enhance the professional development of teachers and improve the clinical preparation of beginning teachers.

The Professional Development School also aims to provide quality education for pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade students and utilize practice-based research to improve instruction.

The 5K walk and run event will take place on Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Sign-ins will begin at 8:30 AM in the lobby of Zimbar-Liljenstein Hall. Participants should then meet in front of Zimbar-Liljenstein Hall, where the walk and run will begin.

To register for the Jingle Bell run or walk, please visit the Professional Development School’s website from the College of Education’s web page: esu.edu/pds15.

Registration for this event is $20.00 and includes a commemorative race T-shirt. It is $10.00 without the T-shirt.

The purpose of this event is to raise funds that allow the Professional Development School to continue to enhance the work done for students in the East Stroudsburg area and the educational opportunities provided to ESU students.

The funds will be used to provide scholarships for ESU students within the Professional Development School.

Not only is this race a fun way to begin the holiday season, but it also provides support to a truly worthwhile cause. This year marks the Professional Development School’s fifteenth year of operation at ESU.

Over the past decade and a half, the Professional Development School has educated and provided opportunities to over 20,000 students and 2,000 teachers.

Through the Professional Development School program, ESU students have been able to collaborate with students from over 18 area schools as well.
