The East Stroudsburg University wrestling team lost to the Seton Hill Griffins, 24-13, in a wrestling dual on Senior Night, February 10, at Koehler Fieldhouse.

ESU lost six out of the first seven wrestling matches to Seton Hill (10-4, 3-3), but the Warriors were able to make a late rally by winning four out of the last five matches.

ESU sophomore Tyler Richardson (#1 at 197 pounds), Tyson Searer (#4 at 285 pounds), and Luke DeLuise (#4 at 184 pounds) won their respective wrestling matches. All three ESU wrestlers are listed in the latest Super Region 1 rankings.

In addition, redshirt sophomore Matt Wax won an 11-6 decision over Seton Hill freshman Garrett Schultz at the 165-pound weight class.

ESU’s DeLuise won a 10-2 major decision over Seton Hill senior Christian Bosco at the 184-pound weight class. That was DeLuise’s 25th career bonus point win.

ESU’s Richardson won a close 3-2 decision over Seton Hill sophomore Morris Lawson at the 197-pound weight class.

In the final match, ESU’s Searer won a 6-0 decision over Seton Hill freshman Max Gladstone at the 285-pound weight class. That is nine straight wins for Searer.

The match at the 174-pound weight class featured Warrior senior and PSAC “Champion Scholar” Daniel Ingulli. Late in the match, Seton Hill junior Brett Smith slammed Ingulli down hard into the mat.

With 0:47 left in the match, the trainer came out to check on Ingulli. Ingulli was able to get up and walk off the mat under his own power, but he lost the match 22-7 by technical fall to Seton Hill’s Smith.

Later, it was announced that this would be Daniel Ingulli’s final wrestling match.

With the loss, ESU’s overall record falls to 5-8. The Warriors are now 1-5 in the PSAC.

This was the last home wrestling dual for ESU. The Warriors have wrestling duals on the road against LIU Post on February 12 and Kutztown on February 17 before the NCAA DII Super Regional to be held at West Liberty on February 27-28.
