A Voice For the Earth

The Origins Gallery in Stroudsburg presents “A Voice For the Earth,” a nature-themed open art show on March 28 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

“A Voice For the Earth” is running alongside the Pocono Arts Council’s “The Earth Speaks,” a juried exhibition of artwork from all over the United States featuring a similar theme.

Part of the exhibit’s intent is to have other local venues host events with the same theme.

Jody Singer, who helped to found the Origins Gallery, played a large part in organizing the event.

“A Voice For the Earth” features art from local artists and special musical guests Michael G. Williams with Baba Keino Anderson Gavinpiper and Derrick Jenkins. They compose an Afro/Latin jazz ensemble.

Origins Gallery is accepting submissions until March 27, and the guidelines for submission can be found on their website, www.originsgallery.tk.

Attendees can purchase art and raffle tickets to win prizes, as well as enjoy refreshments.

Ashley Fontones, co-director of the Origins Gallery said, “Nature’s beauty is in the eyes of the art lover. You won’t want to miss this nature-themed event. We hope to see you there!”

The Call Of Nature!

To celebrate spring, this April the Sherman Theater’s Living Room is hosting an art show themed, “The Call of Nature.” Featured artists at the event will be Marty Carr and Chris Francz.

For the last several years, the theater has “offered local artists an open venue to express physical and performance art in a welcoming, uncensored environment,” said Steve Truglio of the Sherman Theater.

He added, “Every month, we offer a theme where artists can display their interpretation of the theme. We encourage diverse and open expression.”

Local artists are encouraged by the theater to submit their work.

Their art will be on display at the Living Room where they can be sold 100 percent commission free for the entire month of April.

Anyone who is interested in displaying his or her work at the event is asked to drop it off at the Sherman Theater on Monday, March 30 between 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

Then, on Saturday, April 4 you can stop by the Living Room from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM for “musical entertainment, gallery appreciation, raffles and mingling.”
