A Trip to the Big Apple

On Saturday, March 28, the Campus Activities Board organized a bus trip to New York City.

It is a yearly trip that, according to Amelia Raser, who helped organize the event, they “always had good luck with.”

For some, this was their first time to New York City while others had been there before. Tammy Tuckey, a freshman who frequents New York City, hoped to run into some famous people on Saturday. “It’s a lot of fun and I love going. It’s quite an eventful city,” Tuckey said.

While waiting for the bus to arrive on campus at 10:00 AM on the morning of the trip, everyone was buzzing about what they planned to do in the Big Apple.

Many planned to use the trip to visit the National History Museum, which is one of the many museums located in the city. Some decided to dine at famous restaurants, like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. and Planet Hollywood, while others wanted to spend the day site seeing at places like the Empire State Building.

What seemed to be on most people’s minds, however, was the shopping. There are plenty of stores throughout the city, from Times Square to Chinatown. Raelynne Preston and Quadea Clinkscales were just two of the many people excited for their shopping adventure. They also planned to visit one of the city’s many spas to relax and receive facials.

The trip ended at 8:00 PM, when the bus arrived in New York to take everyone back to East Stroudsburg.

On the ride back, some people were chatting about their excursions, while others decided to take a nap to refresh themselves after their day of exploring, which, for many, happened to involve a lot of walking.

Lucky for East Stroudsburg University’s students and guests, the Big Apple is only a little less than an hour and a half away. With the little amount of travel, this leaves more time to enjoy the city that never sleeps.
