Check out the Hawthorn Hotties on Wednesday, April 8 at 7:00 PM. The performance will take place in the Keystone Room. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the event will last until 9:00 PM.

“We have a great show planned with educational intermissions,” said Jon Madrak, one of the founders of the Hawthorn Hotties. He and John Alston decided to take on this task after a resident advisor brought up the idea in a community board meeting.

“We started as a men’s health initiative,” said Madrak. He believes that in the past, women have been more successful in the public health field because of their passion and efficiency.

That is why Madrak and Alston decided to promote a men’s health issue to a female audience.  Sex sells and because of this, they thought that stripping would be a great way to get people to come to the event.

The Hawthorn Hotties are using this event to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  During last semester’s show, the Hawthorn Hotties raised $250 and sold out every seat available.

They chose to raise money for cancer because many people know someone who has suffered from some type of cancer.

In some cases there may be no warning sign that result in a diagnosis.

This semester, they decided to raise the bar. They plan on selling out all 500 available seats in the Keystone Room. This semester’s goal is to raise $1,500 and educate people about safe and consensual sex.  They gathered information from Health Education and Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Prevention (AToD).

They would like to see this program become an annual event. They will also host a drag show in continuance of their relationship with ESU P.R.I.D.E. (People Recognizing Individual Diversity in Education).

“It is very simple: all of the Hotties love helping people, and we have our own creative way of doing it,” said Madrack.

Regular admission is $3 and VIP admission is $5.
