Track and Field Impresses at Bloomsburg Tri-Meet

On Saturday, April 4, ESU’s track and field team captured fourteen events at the Bloomsburg Tri-Meet held at Bloomsburg University. In addition, ESU student-athletes posted four new PSAC qualifying times ahead of the PSAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be held at ESU from April 30 to May 2.

Youth was served as the cavalcade of new PSAC qualifying times began with freshman Taylor Powers. She ran the 100m dash in 12.80 seconds and finished in fourth place.

Freshman Kaylyn West won the 3000m steeplechase in a new PSAC qualifying time of 12:11:93.

Freshman Samantha DiPietro placed second in the long jump with a new PSAC qualifying distance of 17’ 3 1/4”.

Junior Derrick Washington completed the quartet of new qualifiers by finishing runner-up in the 110m hurdles with a new PSAC qualifying time of 15.05 seconds.

Moreover, five ESU studentathletes improved their PSAC qualifying times. Freshman Keneesha Jones ran the 100m in 12.46 seconds.

Senior Kyle Rickard and freshman Ernest Pendleton finished one-two in the 100m dash. Both lowered their PSAC qualifying times with Rickard running the 100m dash in 10.98 seconds and Pendleton finishing in 11.03 seconds.

Super-sophomore Steven Morgan cruised to a win in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.80 seconds and lowered his PSAC qualifying time. Junior mathematics wiz Adam Robertino also improved his PSAC qualifying time by running the 110m hurdles in 15.37 seconds.

The women won six individual events. They include Keneesha Jones in the 100m dash, sophomore Erin Brady in the 400m, sophomore Kelly Anne Stuetz in the 400m hurdles, freshman Kaylyn West in the 3000m steeplechase, and senior Elizabeth Madden in the hammer throw. In the high jump, senior Christina O’Connor tied for first with Bloomsburg sophomore Joselyn Estrada-Pascual.

The men won seven individual events. They are senior Kyle Rickard in the 100m dash, freshman Ernest Pendleton in the 200m, senior Damien Boham in the 400m, sophomore Steven Morgan in the 110m hurdles, sophomore Ronald D’Eliseo in the 400m hurdles, junior William Berry in the high jump, and sophomore Sean Hagerty in the long jump.

ESU’s fanastic four of Pendleton, Rickard, Morgan, and freshman Montel JohnsonTroupe teamed up to win the 4x100m relay.

It will be a split squad Saturday as the track and field team will send two separate teams to compete in the Coach P Open at Moravian and the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell on April 11.
