The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Ally (LGBTQA) Program is holding an event soon that will be sure to be remembered.

On Monday, Oct. 5, Sexy Drag Bingo will take place in Beers Lecture Hall at 8:00 p.m. All are invited to come and have fun.

Sexy Drag Bingo is going to be hosted by Sharron Ann Husbands and prizes include things ‘adult’ in nature.

The LGBTQA is a group that provides resources and services to anyone here at East Stroudsburg University. They promote equality and acceptance, and you are welcomed to their club no matter who you are.

In addition to the regular bingo, attendees can expect outrageous prizes, comedy and a ton of fun. Sharron, the drag queen host, will be working the crowd in a way similar to a comedy routine that will get people involved and laughing.

The event is just one of many organized for National Coming Out Week, leading up to National Coming Out Day on Oct. 11.

Other events that week include Don’t Have Sex, Because you will get AIDS & Die on Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Sci-Tech Auditorium, To The Cross and Back: An Immigrant’s Journey from Faith to Reason on Oct. 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Lower Dansbury, Rainbow Color Me Warrior Dance & Paint Party on Oct. 7 at 8:00 p.m. in the Shawnee Quad and the Privilege Walk on Oct. 8 at 7:00 p.m. in Lenape Hall Lounge.

The events are all organized and sponsored by People Recognizing Individual Diversity in Education (PRIDE), The Office of Multicultural Affairs, Health Services, Alcohol, Tobacco & other Drug Prevention Services, Feminist Alliance and the LGBTQA Program Center.

PRIDE is a social group for the LGBTQA community. Meetings are held weekly on Tuesdays at 2:00 p.m. in the University Center, room 206AB.

In addition, the East Stroudsburg University Ally Program is offered to all members of the ESU student body in efforts to educate them on the LGBTQA community. If anyone is interested in learning more, sessions run from 60-90 minutes throughout the semester.

If anyone from the LGBTQA community, or anyone in general, is in need of someone to talk to, or in need of help, there are resources out there.

Local resources include: Pocono Action Lambda Society (PALS) at www.palsnepa.org and Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (P-Flag) at www.plfagmonroecounty.org.

National Resources include: Federation P-Flag at www.pflag.org and National Gay & Lesbian Task Force at www.thetaskforce.org.

Come join LGBTQA for Sexy Drag Bingo, win prizes and have an entertaining evening!
