ESU (16-5, 12-5) used fifteen 3-pointers to bury the Cheyney University Wolves (2-17, 1-15) 104-62 at Cheyney’s Alfred Cope Hall last Saturday afternoon.

Redshirt senior “Downtown” Will Brown lived up to his moniker by shooting 8-10 from behind the three-point arc for 26 points to lead the Warriors.

Freshman guard Nick Giordano added four 3-point field goals for 16 points.

Freshman point guard Najee Walls had 12 points and 6 assists, and junior forward Rasheed Moore came back from injury to score 10 points to round out a balanced scoring effort for the Warriors.

The Warriors currently lead the PSAC in team scoring with an 89.9 points per game scoring average. ESU also leads the conference with an 18.9 scoring margin.

ESU’s hot shooting propelled the Warriors to an early 10-2 lead in the first half, and Cheyney would never get close.

The Warriors kept making baskets, and they found themselves leading Cheyney 44-24 at halftime.

In the second half the Warriors always led the Wolves by at least 20 points.

The statistics show that ESU dominated Cheyney in two categories: points off turnovers and bench points.

ESU had 33 points off turnovers to Cheyney’s 11 points off turnovers. ESU’s bench outscored Cheyney’s bench 42-17.

ESU is currently in third place and leads Bloomsburg by one game in the PSAC East.

The Warriors are two games behind PSAC East co-leaders West Chester (18-3, 14-3) and Kutztown (17-4, 14-3).

The next two games for the Warriors are against the division leaders. Both games have tremendous postseason implications because they determine where the Warriors are seeded in the PSAC tournament.

The Warriors played the West Chester Rams on Wednesday night.

The will play the Golden Bears at Kutztown this Saturday afternoon.
