The East Stroudsburg University Warriors swim team finished their regular season campaign with 10 of their women recording 34 PSAC qualifying times in preparation for their conference championships in a strong performance for their regular season finale.

The Warriors won seven of the events and featured strong performances across the board, including Allison Cardow with a first-place finish in the 200 IM with a 2:21.68 time.

Koehler Fieldhouse featured a raucous crowd that was rewarded with a stellar, record-breaking performance from ESU senior Ashleigh Podhayny as she set a school record in the 100 individual medley to highlight strong performances at the ESU Invitational.

Podhayny was not the only senior in the spotlight on Saturday, as fellow swimmer Sophie Coy recorded a PSAC qualifying time in the 400 IM, joining Podhayny, Cyndi Kline, and Alexandra Woytko as seniors that will be competing at the PSAC championships.

Saturday’s competition offered a key and important opportunity for swimmers from ESU, Millersville University, and Kutztown University to prepare for the PSAC Championships from February 18-21 in York, PA.

Swimmers were able to scrape precious seconds off their qualifying time, while those who had yet to qualify were provided one, last opportunity.

The Warriors finished the regular season with a 4-3 record; winning an impressive 57.1 percent of their contests.

The team’s most dominant victory came during a Tri-Meet at California University. Kutztown was also in attendance when the Warriors scored 264 points in a pivotal road victory.

Although there is time between this invitational and the PSAC Championships, the break will serve as preparation with the aspirations of peak performances come the 18th.
