Two ESU Students Dead After Saturday Accident

A car accident on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two ESU students: sophomores Antoni Alvarado, 20, and Daniel Blazier, 19.

The accident took place at about 9:30 p.m. in Stockertown, PA on Route 33 close to the Route 191 interchange.

Alvarado was studying digital media technology, and Blazier was studying business management.

Alvarado lived in Saylorsburg, PA, and Blazier lived in Brodheadsville, PA.

They both attended Pleasant Valley High School and graduated in 2014.

There will be joint services for the two students at the Donald N. Gower Funeral Home tomorrow Friday, Feb. 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a brief prayer service will happen at 7:30 p.m..

A combined Celebration of Life ceremony will occur on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Pleasant Valley Presbyterian Church. Visitation will begin at noon with the ceremony following at 1 p.m..

Instead of flowers, Antoni’s family requests for all donations to be made to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, and Daniel’s family requests for all donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

In an email sent to all ESU students, President Marcia Welsh wrote: “These young men will be missed and forever be remembered as true Warriors.”
