Each week a disc jockey from East Stroudsburg University’s radio station, 90.3 WESS, is selected as DJ of the week for their exceptional performance and hard work on the air.

This week’s DJ of the week is Abel Guerrero for his radio show Friday Sports Breakdown, with his cohost Nick Secules.

He is also being recognized for his exceptional play-by-play announcing for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams this 2015-2016 season.

Guerrero is from Brick N.J. and is currently pursuing a degree in digital media technologies with a track focus in television production here at ESU.

The inspiration for his show stems from Guerrero’s absolute love for sports, especially football.

During the NFL Season his show is called Fantasy Football Breakdown and it focuses on the stats and affairs of the current NFL season.

For the off-season, he transforms his show into Friday Sports Breakdown, where he and his co-host deliver all of the NFL off-season news, as well as others sports news..

Guerrero also works in the sports department at WESS calling play-by-play, or color commentating for the basketball games.

He made his play-by-play debut on the last regular season game for the men’s basketball team where the ESU Warriors took on the Lock Haven Golden Eagles on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Guerrero’s favorite aspect about WESS is the people involved and the fun atmosphere they build together.

His aspirations for the future in the broadcasting field are to secure a position for a sports network company.

The American sports caster, Kevin Burkhardt, who currently announces play by play for the NFL on FOX, has been a big influence on Guerrero’s work at WESS.

Listeners can catch Abel Guerrero’s show, Friday Sports Breakdown, Fridays at 3 p.m. on 90.3 WESS via the radio, or they can stream WESS over the web at tunein.com/radio/WESS.

For those who cannot listen to Friday Sports Breakdown at its original time can listen to internet podcasts of the show by going to Radiofreeamerica.com and searching WESS.
