Each week a Disc Jockey from East Stroudsburg University’s radio station, 90.3 WESS, is selected as DJ of the week for their exceptional performance and hard work on the air.

This week’s DJ of the week is Brittany Winfield for her radio shows “Throwback Thursday” and “Good Vibes.”

Winfield is from Newton, N.J. and is currently a senior at ESU.

She is pursuing a degree in communications, with a focus in media studies, as well as minoring in digital media technologies, with a focus in photography.

Her radio show “Throwback Thursday” focuses on all the great tunes from the past, spanning a variety a decades and genres.

Winfield includes artists from her own childhood such as Amy Winehouse, and the 70’s English rock group Queen.

Her other radio show, “Good Vibes,” is dedicated to alternative music and the subgenres that coincide, emphasizing uplifting attitudes and all around fun on the air waves.

As the WESS promotions director, Winfield does everything in her power to schedule new and innovative events and fundraisers to keep WESS going strong.

“What I love most about being Promotions Director is being able to put all of my energy into content producing, and whether it is designing new products advertising the station, meeting new connections, or planning the next event, it gives me a rush when I can see all of my hard work pay off in the end product” Winfield explained.

Winfield always incorporates an aspect of promotions into her radio shows, showcasing upcoming events like the WESS’s 2016 Spring Jam, which took place on April 2 , as well as WESS’s Relay for Life fundraiser, Slice of Life Night, at Steve’s Pizza on April 8.

Not only has Winfield been broadcasting her shows over the radio, but she has been live streaming her shows on the internet to show viewers behind the scenes of what goes on at WESS.

“My favorite part about being a 90.3 WESS member is being able to leave ESU knowing that I’ve made a difference, and to make it in radio, you’ve got to practice for at least two years. Without WESS, there would be no way I was going to have a shot in the big leagues of advertising,” Winfield said.

Listeners can catch Brittany Winfield’s shows, “Throwback Thursday” and “Good Vibes,” Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 90.3 WESS via the radio, or they can stream WESS over the web at tunein.com/radio/WESS.

For those who cannot listen her shows at their original time, listen to internet podcasts of the show by going to Radiofreeamerica.com and searching WESS.
