On Wednesday, April 20, a group of students participated in the most-awaited final event of Global Week: Holi Festival of Colors.
For those who may not know, this event consists of a crowd of people coming together and throwing colored powder, leaving all of the attendees covered in all sorts of different colors.
“In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind,” according to festivalofcolorsusa.com.
Whether celebrating the beginning of spring, or some sort of religious purpose, this event is held all around the world, connecting people of all diversities by ridding the atmosphere of social norms.
The Holi Festival of Colors was the perfect end to ESU’s Global Week. Although it was a couple weeks late, and attendance was a bit low, it was still a moment that showed exactly what this event is all about.
