Toth’s Triumphant Season

Travis Toth, a graduate student from Newfoundland, Pa., leads the men’s track and field team’s throwers in the hammer (outdoor) and weight throw (indoor) events.

Toth is a three-time national qualifier and was an All-American in hammer (outdoors) in 2014 and a 2-time PSAC champion (weight throw indoors, hammer outdoors) in 2014.

Toth has been a Warrior athlete since 2012 and redshirted in 2015 to return during his graduate years. He has earned two academic awards: he was named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team in 2014 and was named to the PSAC Winter Top Ten in 2016.

In 2012 and 2013, Toth also threw discus and continues to throw shot put, hammer (outdoor) and weight throw (indoor).

He set his PR (Personal Record) in discus at 138-3 in 2012. His current shot put best was in 2014 with 48-5 ¼ (indoor). He also set his weight throw (indoor) best in 2014 with 63-7 ¾. His current hammer best is 198-11 in 2014 (outdoor).

Toth placed first in his last three PSAC championships: in 2014, both indoor and outdoor, as well as the 2016 indoor championship.

In the indoor championships, he placed first in weight throw. In outdoor, he placed in the hammer.

Toth participated in the NCAA championships in 2013, 2014 and 2016. In the 2013 outdoor championships, he placed thirteenth in the hammer at 183-9.

In 2014, he participated in both the indoor and outdoor national championships. He placed 11th in the weight throw (indoor) at 60-5 ¾. He placed eighth in the hammer at 193-1.

In the 2016 indoor championships, Toth placed tenth in the weight throw at 61-9 ¾ and was named second team All-America.

Toth is currently finishing out his final outdoor season as an ESU Warrior
