ESU’s women’s tennis team beat Kutztown 7-2 for its second PSAC win last Saturday.

ESU’s sensational six is comprised of junior Amber Jadus, sophomores Devin Presby and Elizabeth Bartoli, junior Kayla Loar, freshman Lauren Morrissey and senior Sarah DiGregory.

The Warriors went 2-1 in their doubles matches.

The duo of Jadus and Loar defeated Kutztown’s Alyssa Konas and Kara Urland 8-3 in the first match.

The sophomore team of Presby and Bartoli combined to dominate Jessica Caples and Ashley Carter 8-1.

But ESU’s Morrissey and DiGregory lost to Kutztown’s Vicki Norman and Shadimon Navarro 4-8.

The Warriors won five of their six singles matches.

The first singles match was the most competitive and took the longest to complete. Jadus found herself down 2-5 before mounting a furious comeback and forcing a first set tiebreaker.

However, Jadus would drop the first set and lose 1-6 in the second set. But that would be the only blemish for the Warriors.

Sophomore Taylor Presby, part of the Presby tennis dynasty, looked dominant in almost double-bageling her Kutztown opponent. Presby defeated Urland 6-1, 6-0 in second singles.

Presby has an overall record of 4-1 in the PSAC this season since being installed at second singles.

In No. 3 singles, Bartoli overcame a first set tiebreaker to beat Kutztown’s Norman 7-6, 6-2.

The other three matches were pretty routine.

Loar defeated Kutztown’s Caples 6-2, 6-4.

In the battle of the freshmen, Morrissey beat Kutztown’s Carter 6-2, 6-0.

DiGregory handled Kutztown’s Kady Wuagon 6-0, 6-3.

Last Saturday was also Senior Day for Kutztown’s women’s tennis team. Kutztown’s Jessica Caples and Vicki Norman were recognized before the start of the matches.

The Warriors return to the hard courts when they take on Susquehanna tomorrow afternoon at Stroudsburg High School.
