ESU’s Student Senate kicked off this Fall semester with a club fair between Stroud Hall and the Union on Sept. 6 at 11 a.m.

A variety of clubs set up tables to advertise and recruit new members including several greek organizations, academic clubs and special interest groups.

“The club fair is an excellent opportunity for underclassmen to see what ESU has to offer and to get involved,” said Luke Garner, a senior representing his fraternity, Delta Chi.

Just a few of the organizations in attendance were the Psychology Association, College Republicans, Political Science Club and WESS, which provided music for the event.

Many of the clubs were excited for the opportunity to advertise.

Ryan McGonagle, president of the Marine Science club, stated that the fair is “a good way to advertise, because a lot of people don’t even know there’s a marine science major, let alone a club.”

Each group had sign-up sheets as well as information about their organization, representatives to answer questions, and many had games or free snacks, pens and other items.

The Lambda Iota sorority was giving out free, homemade cupcakes topped with sprinkles.

The PRIDE club was giving out free rainbow pens from the campus LGBT Center and information cards about their meetings.

The International Student Organization and Muslim Student Association shared a table at which they asked students to play a game involving taking a piece of candy from a map and guessing the capital of the country under the candy.

“We had a good turn out, and a couple sign ups,” said Garner, “it helps us get in touch with guys we wouldn’t normally see around campus.”

Students who missed the fair, but are interested in campus clubs and activities can find more information about all of the clubs on Warrior Link.
