I want to dye… my hair, of course.

Dying your hair all types of beautiful colors such as red, blond, brown and even blue can look very nice, but the damage that it leaves on your hair can be heartbreaking.

Coloring your hair can cause it to lose its moisture which can lead to a dry or itchy scalp that can eventually result to hair thinness or loss.

Products like ammonia and peroxide that are in hair dye can damage your hair if not taken care of properly.

According to the huffingtonpost.com, “ammonia elevates the pH of the hair, and in doing so, the cuticle relaxes and lifts up. The problem with that is once you’ve disturbed the cuticle, the damage has started because the cuticle is not meant to be lifted up.”

Once the cuticle has been lifted, it is time to actually dye the hair and choose the color that you want and that is where the peroxide comes in.

As stated in the huffingtonpost.com, “peroxide is very drying on the hair, which contributes to the damage of the hair.

Now the cuticle is lifted, your pigment has been broken down, so now your hair should be straw-like.”

So we have to be careful about the number of times we dye our hair in order for us to maintain a head full of healthy hair.

Now, there is nothing wrong with coloring your hair, because there are several ways to dye your hair, keep its shape, and still look good and that is hair care.

You have to routinely moisturize both the hair and scalp in order to avoid dryness that cause hair damage.

By conditioning your hair at least two times a week you can also help keep the color.

Dying your hair is great if you are going for a new look!

Adding a bit of color is the perfect way to highlight features and also give you a sense of confidence.

Some people may express themselves through clothes, shoes, or makeup, but others may use the product of hair dye to release their inner fierceness.

Unless you continuously bleach your hair, or are using heavy chemical dyes, with proper care, your hair will be “a-ok.”
