On Oct. 22, the Bloomsburg University Huskies beat ESU’s football team 35-14 at Danny Hale Field at Redman Stadium.

The ground game was the key to victory for the Huskies. In total, the Huskies tallied 283 yards rushing.

Bloomsburg had two 100-yard rushers on the day.

Bloomsburg workhorse running back Lawrence Elliott, Jr. carried the ball 17 times for 135 yards and scored three touchdowns.

Scatback Joe Parsnik rushed 16 times for 100 yards.

Even the quarterback Duffy Gilhool ran 14 times for 79 yards and scored one touchdown.

The game was scoreless in the first half, but the Huskies would unleash themselves in the third quarter.

Bloomsburg took the opening possession of the second half and went 10 plays and 58 yards in five minutes and 38 seconds for the first touchdown of the game.

Gilhool’s four-yard touchdown run broke the scoring drought and put Bloomsburg ahead by seven points.

Elliott, Jr. would score a pair of touchdowns on Bloomsburg’s next two possessions for a 21-0 lead over ESU at the end of the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, ESU would finally respond when redshirt senior tailback Robert Healy scored on a five-yard touchdown run.

On Bloomsburg’s next possession, ESU’s defense would get a stop, and the Warriors would receive the ball again.

The Warriors took over at their own 28-yard line, and ESU’s quick-strike offense came to life.

Redshirt junior quarterback Tim DiGiorgio threw passes to tailbacks Marquis Fells and Robert Healy, and the Warriors moved quickly into Huskie territory.

Finally, DiGiorgio hit freshman wide receiver Nolan Ridgway with a 37-yard touchdown pass.

The Warriors now trailed the Huskies by only one touchdown with 10:05 left in the game, but that was as close as ESU would get.

Elliott, Jr. scored his third touchdown of the day, and the score became 28-14 Bloomsburg.

On the ensuing possession, Bloomsburg defensive back Dexter Jordan intercepted DiGiorgio’s pass and returned it for a touchdown to seal the victory for the Huskies. That was Jordan’s second interception of the game.

Bloomsburg’s Dexter Jordan was named PSAC East Defensive Player of the Week last Monday.

The Warriors (4-4, 2-3) return home to play West Chester on Oct. 29.
