On Oct. 29, ESU’s field hockey team beat Slippery Rock 3-0 at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium in Slippery Rock to secure the No. 1 seed in tomorrow’s PSAC Tournament.

Last Saturday was Senior Day at Slippery Rock. Five seniors from the team were recognized before the game.

Slippery Rock began the game by putting a lot of pressure on ESU’s defense.

After several minutes of playing defense, the Warriors started to take control of the game.

The Warriors were able to transition from defense to offense and scored two goals in the first half.

In the 11th minute, senior forward Robin Stevenson scored her team-leading 11th goal of the season to put ESU ahead 1-0.

Less than a minute later, sophomore midfielder Karisa Turner scored ESU’s second goal.

In the second half, junior midfielder Sydney McCarthy scored her fourth goal of the season to make the final score 3-0.

The Warriors dominated this game. They outshot Slippery Rock 27-4. ESU also had 14 corners to just one for Slippery Rock.

The Warriors will host Millersville tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Whitenight Field in a PSAC semifinal game.

Millersville beat Bloomsburg 2-0 on Tuesday to advance to the PSAC semifinal game against ESU.

Shippensburg will play West Chester in the other PSAC semifinal game.
