On Nov. 1, ESU’s Women’s Soccer team beat Slippery Rock 5-0 in a PSAC quarterfinal game at Eiler-Martin Stadium.

With the win, the Warriors advanced to the PSAC semifinals. They will play the top-seeded West Chester University Golden Rams tomorrow.

Earlier in the season, ESU and Slippery Rock played to a 1-1 tie, but the rematch would be a different story.

The difference in this game was the number of shots. ESU outshot Slippery Rock 33-6 for the game.

In the 36th minute, sophomore forward Alex Pickett scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season. Senior forward Brielynn Hackett’s shot-on-goal hit the goalpost, but the rebound went to Pickett who scored the first goal.

The second goal came in the 36th minute. Pickett’s shot was blocked by a Slippery Rock player, but the ball came out to freshman midfielder Jules Sicker who kicked it into the back of the net for ESU’s second goal.

In the 42nd minute, freshman forward Amy Strauser scored her fourth goal of the season to put the Warriors up 3-0 at intermission.

Junior midfielder Sammi Ortiz and junior forward Molly Vicari would score one goal apiece in the second half to make the final score 5-0.

With 7:51 left in the game, junior goalkeeper Jules Harris collided with a Slippery Rock player. Harris went to the ground and remained down on the field for a few minutes before she was able to get up and walk off the field under her own power.

Harris was treated on the sideline, and an ice pack was wrapped around her right knee.

The Warriors will play West Chester on the road tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the first PSAC semifinal game.

Kutztown and Gannon will play the second PSAC semifinal at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
