The Mattioli Recreation Center is having a fitness demo, furnished with 25 new pieces of equipment. The new equipment is displayed in the front lobby of the Rec, and is open for students to test and survey.

As explained by Paul Culbertson Assis. Director of Facility Operations, the idea behind the demo is to have students test the different machines and brands and rate them on a survey sheet.

“The demo is to sample the four different brands: Lifefitness, StarTrac, Matrix and Precor, not so much the type of equipment.” Explains Culbertson. Culbertson wants the students to be involved in this process, so they can be satisfied with the changes that will occur in the Fall of 2017.

The new equipment will give a fresh, upgraded look to the Rec. Picture instructions on how to properly use the machine and what muscles it targets, will make it more inviting and easier for students to use.

“Students are participating in the demo because they want to see a change upstairs”states Shelly a Facility Manager. The equipment can be tested at any time during hours of operation, in between classes or right before a game of basketball.

The staff explained there has been a great turn out, so far, of students showing interest in the demo. Michael a Facility Manager states “I think it is great for students to see where their tuition money is going.”

With only one more week of the fitness demo left, Culbertson and the staff at Mattioli Recreation Center are encouraging students to come and put their thoughts in.
