ESU’s Women’s Swimming team placed second at The College of New Jersey Invitational in Ewing, N.J. last weekend.

The highlight of the threeday event for the Warriors came in the 200-yard butterfly. Junior Allison Cardow set a new school record with a time of 2:11.66. Cardow’s time was good for second behind The College of New Jersey’s Debbie Meskin’s winning time of 2:10.85.

In total, the Warriors won seven events.

Freshman Tarah Killane won the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:12.19.

Junior Kate Zimmerman won the 200-yard IM (Individual Medley) in a time of 2.11.32.

Junior Annie Fagan won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.66.

Freshman Olivia Lukshides won the women’s 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:56.41.

Lukshides also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.37.

The relay team of Killane, senior Samantha Pelletier, senior Victoria Gurdak and Lukshides won the 800-yard freestyle relay.

ESU’s relay team of Fagan, Zimmerman, senior Kelly Buyaskas and Lukshides won the 400-yard freestyle relay.

In addition to winning seven events, ESU had some near misses.

Zimmerman placed first in the 400-yard IM preliminaries. Despite swimming a faster time in the final, she finished in third place.

Cardow won the 100-yard butterfly preliminaries, but she finished 0.03 of a second behind the first place winner in the final.

The Warriors will return to the pool for the Lynn University Sprint Invitational at Boca Raton, Fla. on Jan. 7.
