Before they announced the game of year, they made some announcements and acknowledgements.

They thanked industry legend Hideo Kojima for everything he has done over the years. He wasn’t able to attend last year’s award show due to issues regarding his former employer, but since he no longer works there he was free to attend this time around.

He also showed off a new trailer for his upcoming game, “Death Stranding.”

They also showed off trailers and gameplay footage for multiple games.

They showed off a teaser for the new “Guardians of the Galaxy” game in production, in which we saw nothing but the logo.

A trailer for a new game called “Dauntless” was shown, which is a co-op action RPG for PCs set to release next year.

Gameplay for a game called “Lawbreakers” was shown, which looks a bit like “Overwatch” if superheroes were the main characters and wielded guns. They also showed gameplay for the “Prey” reboot.

A CG trailer for Halo Wars 2 was also shown.

They premiered the first trailer for season three of “The Walking Dead” game, in which there are a bunch of new characters dealing with walkers, but a character from the previous two season’s returns.

The final thing shown before they announced the game of the year was gameplay for the highly anticipated “Mass Effect: Andromeda.”

Game of the Year: “Doom,” “Inside,” “Overwatch,” “Titanfall 2” and “Uncharted 4.”

Winner: “Overwatch”
