ESU’s Men’s Basketball team beat the Mercyhurst University Lakers 69-57 at Mercyhurst Athletic Center in Erie last Sunday. ESU is now a perfect 4-0 in the PSAC.

The Warriors were paced by redshirt senior guard Quindell Brice who had 19 points and two steals.

Senior forward Rasheed Moore had 12 points and two steals in the winning effort.

It was a competitive game. ESU junior guard Ryan Krawczeniuk’s two free throws tied the game at 23 with 5:57 left in the first half.

Then the Warriors went on a 13-9 scoring run to take a 36-32 lead at recess.

Mercyhurst opened the second half with a 9-2 scoring run to take back the lead 41-38.

Both teams continued to play hard, and the score was tied 52-52 with 5:26 left in the game.

But missed shots and fouls by Mercyhurst down the stretch enabled ESU to score the next eight points before the Lakers would answer with about a minute-and-a-half left in the game.

By then, it was too late for Mercyhurst. The Warriors iced the game by making their free throws to sink the Lakers 69-57.

ESU (6-3, 4-0) will return to Erie and play Gannon this Saturday.
