The parking passes for commuter students and students who live on campus are priced at $110 a year; the University Ridge parking passes are $90 a year.
Students receive parking tickets even with a parking pass.
Why is this? Most-likely it is because they are parking in the wrong areas that are not designated for their passes.
“I parked in the commuter lot when I am supposed to park in Gwendolyn, but Gwendolyn is the worst lot and it is so far away from campus, especially with this weather and at night, it’s terrifying,” ESU student Vincent Gervasi commented.
“I’ve actually had to skip classes due to not finding a parking spot. I have gotten three parking tickets for parking where I wasn’t supposed to, I have a commuter pass. Since the University does not make parking a priority for commuter students, I don’t make paying them one either,” upperclassman Joe Novinski stated.
“If I see a meter spot and I know that I am running late for class, I will park there. I am spending more than the $110 for the pass just so I have a place to park,” stated upperclassman Kayla Sutter.
Several students have expressed their anger with the parking tickets they have received.
They are unhappy with the lack of parking on campus and even more unhappy with the amount of tickets they receive after purchasing a parking permit.
With the limited amount of parking on campus, there are certain spots designated to those with the correct parking pass.
The lots on campus include the commuter lot, faculty/staff lot, clinic lot and the residence lot.
Also, there is metered parking, which is the occasional borough parking that outlines the campus.
Depending on you parking violation, most tickets start at $15.
If you do not pay them within a certain amount of time, the cost goes up. If you prolong the payments, your car can be booted, towed or you will risk having your parking privileges taken away.
Go to the ESU homepage and locate the parking tab.
There, you can find all of the information you need on how to avoid receiving tickets, how to purchase parking passes and what areas are designated for the pass that you have.
