The Pocono Cinema and Cultural Center is a Cinema just down the road from East Stroudsburg University, located on South Courtland Street. The theater shows many diverse movies and holds all different types of events.

The theater has held many events in the past for ESU students.

On Nov. 20, the PC3 held an event for the annual film race. If you entered the film race, you were given 168 hours to create a short film within five minutes of length.

Contestants were given a start date and end date; the end date being when all the films would be shown.

When creating your short film, you had to have an action; a certain line and theme that were to be followed.

Tyler Fox, a projectionist at the theater, is the master planner behind this event. Fox thought of this year’s theme, which was “a secret in time,” with a line and a prop.

The line was, “who have you told,” and the prop was glass. Fox also reached out to several schools such as East Stroudsburg South, ESU and Northampton asking if they would like to participate in the annual film race.

Several participants signed up to enter the film race.

“It’s a really great way to get the community involved and bring out their own creations to show others. This year we had a lot of different schools come together to show their short films. It’s a lot of fun.” Fox said.

The idea of the race is for people to show their creations and have the audience vote for best actress/actor, best film and best screenplay and best editing. The winners would receive gift cards to various locations in Stroudsburg.

This year’s film festival was slightly affected by the weather. It was snowing, and several contestants couldn’t make it to show their films.

Due to this, the film race is going to be re-scheduled to make a second appearance at the theater in December.

You can find information such as ticket prices and when the film race will be showing in December on their website, poconocommunitytheater.org.
