90.3 WESS FM, East Stroudsburg very own student run radio station, uses the genre “diversified” for its general programming policy.

The radio station is open to all students, faculty, and campus workers of the university; however, WESS has opened its doors to two new members who never expected to go live on air.

Ronald Nagel and Donald Laudenslager, students enrolled in ESU’s Career, Independent Living & Learning Studies (CILLS) program, became certified Disc Jockey’s and programmed their first radio show on Dec. 6.

The duo plans to continue standard weekly programs throughout the spring 2017 semester with help from Dylan Doran, a CILLS para educator, who worked with Nagel and Laudenslager through the DJ certification process at WESS.

All the members of 90.3 WESS we very welcoming to Nagel and Laudenslager, allowing them to shadow their show and work WESS events helping to give them the experience they were striving for in joining WESS.

Disc Jockey, Taylor Drew, was especially helpful with Nagel and Laudenslager because they shadow her show once a week for the majority of the fall 2016 helping to prepare them to go live on the air.

Their radio show is centered around rock and roll genre expanding from punk, hard, and alternative rock. A few of Nagel’s favorites include Green Day, The Foo Fighters, and Imagine Dragons.

Nagel joined the radio station as an intern last spring working under Station Manager, Jillian Deiley, who showed Nagel the “behind the scenes” of WESS. After seeing a strong interest and dedication for radio in Nagel, Deiley made it a point to get them on air.

Over the summer, Nagel visited Villanova University’s Radio Station and secured himself a position as a station intern at Villanova after he graduates from ESU.

Ronald Nagel and Donald Laudenslager have not scheduled a radio show yet for this semester but they are working on getting back on the air and playing the music they love.
