This past Saturday the Resident Advisors (RA’s) from the University Apartment buildings held the first weekend late night social.

Called Tropical Paradise, the night was a Fun filled Hawaiian-themed social with finger foods, sandwiches, snacks, smoothies, pizza and prizes.

The first social was held in the Hawthorn Hall from 9 p.m. to 12 p.m. The event had a huge turn out of over 60 residents.

As residents from all over the university entered the Hawthorn lounge, they were greeted with a lei or flowery garland necklace.

Raffles were distributed as students waited in line for food. They were given the opportunity to take two tickets as they pleased. At 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m., the number one raffle was picked with a winning Dairy Queen gift card and candy.

Second prize was a Walmart gift card and candy and third prize was a box of candy. However, no one left empty handed. Many student came up for multiple refills of smoothies and second-slices of pizza.

“Tropical Paradise was a huge success. Between student interaction and word of mouth, the program overall was a hit!”, said Dylan Matsago, head RA of the University Apartments.

This late night social hosted by the universities RA’s was just the first of the many to come this spring semester. Late night socials happen once every weekend by a different building’s RA staff team.

The objective of these programs is to not only be engaging, interactive and rewarding, but also to give those who do not go out partying on the weekend a safe and fun alternative.

The next late night social is February 4 in Lenape Hall from 9 p.m. to 12 p.m. with a theme of handcuff-bowling. With advertising already presented around the campus halls, the RA staff is looking forward to another outstanding turnout.
