ESU’s Track and Field team had a strong showing at the Fastrack National Invite at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, N.Y. last Friday
night.

The men’s team was led by the one-two punch of senior Steven Morgan and junior Christian Castro in the 60m hurdles. Morgan finished in 8.19 seconds for
third place. Castro ran 8.39 seconds and finished in seventh place.

Sophomore Akeim Thomas ran the 200-meter dash in 22.41 seconds for a seventh place finish.

Sophomore Patrick Monahan continued his strong season by running the 60-meter dash in 7.03 seconds. He finished in eighth place overall.

Senior Robert Garvey was the top finisher for the Warriors in the 400-meter dash. Garvey ran 50.35 seconds and finished in 14th place.

Sophomore Khai Samuels finished the 800-meter run in 1:55.32 and came in 19th place.

Two freshmen stood out in the field events. Darnell Randall cleared 1.99m in the high jump, and Sam Avalos jumped 6.51m in the long jump.

In the triple jump, senior La Treil Ridgeway jumped 13.96m, and freshman Austin Horner jumped 13.71m for an eighth and ninth place finish respectively for
ESU.

In the 5,000-meter run, senior Alec Lederer finished in a time of 15:13.75.

The women were led by the distance runners. Senior Lauren Toth finished the 800-meter run in 2:19.42. Fellow senior Erin Brady finished right behind her in
2:19.80.

Freshman Rachel Eidson completed the mile run in 5:21.22.

Junior Kaylyn West ran the 3,000-meter run in 10.26:28. Fellow junior Samantha Young finished a few steps behind in 10:42.22.

Sophomore Leiana Dean finished 400-meter run in 1:00.79.

In the 200-meter run, sophomore Aspen Gaita ran 25.81, and freshman Tiana Webster ran 26.20.

In the field events, sophomore Michayla Weitman jumped 4.73m in the long jump, and freshman Sarah Smith jumped 10.52m in the triple jump.

More vertically, sophomore Victoria Matthews cleared 1.60m in the high jump, and senior Brandie Tartza cleared 3.30m in the pole vault.

The Warriors return to competition on Saturday at Kutztown University’s Last Chance Qualifier this Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
